Sir Hubert Parry’s best-known work “I Was Glad”, composed for the coronation of King Edward VII, was performed by Wherwell Singers at the church rededication ceremony in Spring 2012..
BBC Radio 4’s ‘Tales from the Stave’ explores the history of this piece, most recently heard at the Royal Wedding in 2011, with excerpts from full performances with multiple choirs and orchestra.
In addition, a superb BBC programme called “The Prince and the Composer” by HRH The Prince of Wales is now available on i-player, giving a lyrical and informative insight into Parry’s life and work.
